Introduction
Smoking has been the lifestyle of centuries in many cultures. The implications of smoking are quite grave and cannot be wished away. The dangers of smoking, on both health and survival issues, have been somewhat well portrayed by many people. Thus, as it is known today, it kills over seven million yearly through its use; it puts it forth that it leads to this preventable cause of death all around the globe.
The Physical Hazards of Smoking
1. Lung Cancer: The key determinant of lung cancer deaths is cigarette smoking, which can contribute to about 80-90% of total lung cancer deaths.
2. Cardiovascular Disease: Smoking heavily harms the cardiovascular system. More chance of heart disease, heart attack, and stroke.
3. Known as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease: Lung disease by smoking where gradually it starts showing difficult process in breathing.
4. Other Cancers Smoking leads to a higher risk for most cancers, including mouth, throat, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, kidney, bladder, and cervical cancers, amongst many others.
